First portfolio
Designing and coding my first personal portfolio in html and css, as part of my first semester exam in Multimedia Design at EK.
Project overview
Creating my first digital portfolio
The challenge
Creating my first personal portfolio from scratch while learning the fundamentals of HTML and CSS. The challenge was to create a professional website that could showcase my work, skills and personality without making the design feel overly complicated.
The solution
I designed and coded a personal portfolio with a clean, visual layout that puts my projects and personality at the centre. I focused on creating a simple and responsive experience while experimenting with typography, imagery, video and basic HTML and CSS.

The starting point
Building from scratch
This project was my first step into building for the web. I wanted to create a personal portfolio that could introduce who I am, showcase my first projects and give me a space to experiment with digital design. At the same time, I was learning the fundamentals of HTML and CSS and discovering how design and code could work together.
Key insights
Learning to design with code
Starting simple
I learned that a strong design does not need to be complicated. Keeping the layout simple helped me focus on hierarchy, spacing and creating a clear experience.
Design meets code
Working with HTML and CSS gave me a new understanding of how design decisions translate into a real website. I began to see code as part of the design process rather than something separate from it.
Visual identitiy
Creating my own portfolio gave me the freedom to experiment with typography, imagery and visual details. It was an early step towards developing a visual style that feels personal to me.
Final design
Introducing myself through video
As part of the project, I created a short introductory video to present who I am and give the portfolio a more personal touch. I worked with filming, editing and storytelling to create a visual introduction that reflects my personality and complements the rest of the portfolio.
Reflection
What I learned
This project gave me my first real understanding of how design and development work together. I learned the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, but also how much thought goes into creating a clear and consistent digital experience. Most importantly, it gave me confidence to experiment, make mistakes and keep improving and became the starting point for how I approach digital design today.
